New York: Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Amir-Saeid Iravani has declared that Iran’s response to recent Israeli attacks will be lawful, proportionate, and decisive. Speaking to reporters on Friday, Iravani detailed the outcomes of a United Nations Security Council emergency meeting, which addressed the Israeli regime’s aggressive actions against Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Iravani strongly condemned the Israeli regime’s actions, labeling them as illegal and terrorist attacks. He emphasized that these acts have been executed with comprehensive support from the U.S. administration, which provides the Israeli regime with intelligence, operational, and political backing.
Iravani highlighted that Iran has been subjected to systematic assassinations of senior officials, scientists, and innocent civilians, acts that violate humanitarian norms. He asserted that such attacks contravene the United Nations Charter, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Statute, and the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, posing a direct threat to both regional and global peace.
Overnight on Friday, the Israeli regime initiated a series of military strikes targeting areas in and around the Iranian capital, Tehran, as well as other cities within Iran. In an alarming escalation, residential buildings near Tehran were also targeted by the Tel Aviv regime.
Among the most significant actions were the targeted strikes against Iran’s senior military officials. Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Baqeri, and Chief Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Major General Hossein Salami, were assassinated in Tehran during these operations.
