Tehran: Iran's top environment official, Sheena Ansari, has urged for comprehensive regional cooperation to address the persistent issue of dust storms that affect Iran and its neighboring countries. Ansari, who is the Head of the Department of Environment of Iran, emphasized the need for a united front in tackling these environmental challenges during a recent meeting. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ansari hosted Qatar's Ambassador to Iran, Saad bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud Al Shareef, for discussions on strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in the realm of environmental issues. During the talks, Ansari highlighted that numerous Iranian provinces are suffering from the adverse effects of dust storms, which also impact several other countries in the region. She stressed that effectively resolving the problem demands a collective effort and determination from all regional nations. In her dialogue with the Qatari ambassador, Ansari expressed Iran's keen interest in enhancing environmental col laborations with Qatar. She voiced optimism that the cooperation between Tehran and Doha would inspire neighboring countries to establish a specialized working group dedicated to combating dust storms. The ambassador reciprocated Iran's concerns, affirming that Qatar places significant importance on environmental matters and is fully prepared to collaborate with Iran to address the dust storm issue. He also conveyed Qatar's eagerness to consider Iranian proposals aimed at tackling the challenge.
