Iran’s Vice President Coordinates Funeral Ceremonies for Ayatollah Khamenei

Tehran: Iran's First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref has engaged in phone discussions with the governors of Qom and Razavi Khorasan provinces to assess the final preparations for the funeral ceremonies honoring the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. These conversations were held on Monday as the primary funeral procession commenced in Tehran, where Aref was briefed on logistical plans and the readiness of local authorities in Qom and Mashhad for the upcoming events.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Aref emphasized the necessity of ensuring the safety, health, and well-being of mourners, urging for comprehensive measures to ensure the ceremonies proceed seamlessly and are managed effectively. He highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts among government bodies, emergency services, law enforcement, public service entities, and volunteer organizations to maintain the dignity and efficiency of the events.

The funeral procession for Ayatollah Khamenei, along with his family members, began in Tehran on Monday, attracting vast numbers of mourners. As per the announced schedule, the ceremonies will continue in the holy city of Qom on Tuesday, with subsequent commemorative events planned in the Iraqi holy cities of Najaf and Karbala on Wednesday. The final funeral procession and burial are set for Thursday in Mashhad, northeastern Iran, where Ayatollah Khamenei will be interred at the holy shrine of Imam Reza (PBUH).
