The Chargé d'Affaires of the Iraqi Embassy in Damascus, Yassin Sharif Al-Hajimi, discussed with the Head of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Mission in Syria, Gonzalo Gabriel Vargas Llosa, the Commission's procedures for the displaced, and developing joint plans to overcome the obstacles facing them. A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Al-Hajimi met Vargas Llosa at the embassy headquarters to follow up on the latest developments related to the displaced Iraqis and Lebanese who left Lebanon as a result of the Zionist attacks. During the meeting, according to the statement, the Commission's procedures for the displaced were discussed, and joint plans were developed to overcome the obstacles facing them. The Chargé d'Affaires provided an explanation of the Iraqi government's procedures and the directives of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani in this regard, pointing to the efforts made to house and transport the displaced, and the facilities provided by the Iraqi government, represented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, to facilitate their passage through the border crossings. The two sides praised the role of the Syrian government and its great measures in receiving the displaced of various nationalities, despite the difficult economic challenges facing the country.
