Tehran: The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has asserted that Washington must be held accountable for a war crime committed by US forces in Hormozgan Province. The accusation follows an airstrike that targeted a wedding ceremony, resulting in significant casualties. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the IRGC issued a statement on Thursday condemning the airstrike in Kouhestak, Hormozgan Province, as a war crime. The attack left nearly 70 individuals dead or injured, including four fatalities and several critically wounded. The IRGC described the incident as part of a repeated pattern of US attacks on civilian gatherings, citing previous strikes on weddings in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Yemen as examples. The IRGC criticized American leadership for their response to the incident, noting that rather than offering an apology, US leaders have resorted to falsehoods and evaded accountability, paralleling their past conduct in Minab, Lamerd, and Qeshm. The Guards emphasized the need for US leaders to be held accountable and urged Washington to provide an explanation to the international community for its actions. Furthermore, the IRGC underscored that the United States has not succeeded in achieving its objectives in recent conflicts against Iran. It warned that continued aggression against civilians will not go unanswered, signaling potential repercussions for future actions.
