Tehran: The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has issued a stern warning to Iran’s adversaries, particularly Israel and the United States, that any new miscalculation or act of aggression against Iran will be met with a crushing and decisive response.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the IRGC released this warning on Sunday in conjunction with the beginning of Sacred Defense Week. This week marks the anniversary of the start of the eight-year war initiated by Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein against Iran in the 1980s. During this period, Iran defended its territory with significant popular support, while Saddam’s regime received backing from Western countries. This prolonged conflict is referred to as the Sacred Defense in Iran.
The IRGC statement emphasized that Sacred Defense Week celebrates the triumph of popular resistance, marking a significant chapter in the history of the Islamic Revolution. It stands as a symbol of national pride and resistance on a global scale. The statement highlighted how the Iranian nation, through faith, unity, and divine leadership, managed to counter the extensive and international aggression against Iran’s territorial integrity and the Islamic system, preserving the nation’s independence and honor.
The statement also referenced the long-term impacts of the Sacred Defense. It noted that the Iranian Armed Forces, guided by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, have reached a significant level of self-reliance and combat readiness. This was demonstrated during the recent 12-day conflict that began on June 13, when Israel launched aggression against Iran, and the US intervened by bombing Iranian nuclear sites.
The IRGC underscored that the US and Israel failed to accomplish their objectives during the 12-day conflict. The statement added that Iranian forces are continually enhancing their combat capabilities and strategic capacities. The process of strengthening the Armed Forces is ongoing, and Iran vows to maintain the upper hand should any new aggressive acts occur.
The IRGC also lauded the vigilance and unity of the Iranian people, which it credits with thwarting enemy attempts to instigate unrest within the country. The Iranian populace remains ready to impart new lessons to any aggressor, reinforcing the path of resistance and progress as a guarantee of independence and national sovereignty.
Finally, the IRGC cautioned that any mistakes by enemies, especially Israel and the United States, concerning Iran’s national security or interests, will provoke a decisive and regret-inducing response from the Iranian Armed Forces.
