Islamabad to Continue Mediation Efforts Between Iran and US: Pakistan

Islamabad: Pakistan's Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir has said Islamabad will continue mediation efforts between Iran and the United States, thanking both sides for trusting Pakistan to help advance diplomacy in the region. Field Marshal Munir made the remarks on Sunday during a ceremony marking the first anniversary of Operation Bunyan Marsoos, referring to Pakistan's four-day conflict with India in May 2025.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Pakistan has adopted a transparent, neutral, and effective approach in line with the trust of both Iran and the US. Field Marshal Munir emphasized that mediation efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability would continue.

Pakistan's mediation between the United States and Iran gained momentum on April 8, 2026, as both warring sides accepted a Pakistani-mediated ceasefire. On April 11, 2026, Pakistan organized mediation between Tehran and Washington. Although talks ended on April 13 without a breakthrough, the process established a framework for continued mediation.
