Gaza: Israeli bombing of a hospital complex in Gaza has resulted in the deaths of several individuals, including the sick and wounded Palestinians receiving treatment.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Gaza’s Health Ministry reported this incident as a new Israeli crime in the Gaza Strip, criticizing the regime for showing no mercy to patients and medical staff.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the ministry condemned the pre-dawn strike on the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis, a southern city in Gaza. The attack resulted in the death of two people and injured several others, including patients and medical personnel. The statement emphasized that the continuous attacks on healthcare facilities indicate an intent to dismantle Gaza’s health system, depriving the wounded of medical care.
The early morning assault, carried out by Israeli warplanes, also claimed the life of prominent Palestinian journalist Hassan Eslaih. Eslaih was receiving treatment for injuries sustained during a previous Israeli army assassination attempt. Last month, Israeli forces bombed a media tent outside the hospital, killing at least two people in an attack targeting Eslaih, who had survived the assault.
The Israeli military has justified the bombing by claiming that a Hamas command headquarters was located inside the hospital, a common explanation provided without evidence. A report from the World Health Organization verified 516 attacks on healthcare facilities in the Gaza Strip since the onset of Israel’s war in October 2023.
International medical charity Doctors Without Borders has accused Israel of a ‘complete disregard’ for the safety and protection of medical and humanitarian missions, along with their staff in Gaza.
