Israeli Detentions of Over 100 Palestinians During Ramadan Spark Concerns

Ramallah: Over 100 Palestinians have been detained in the occupied West Bank since the beginning of Ramadan, according to a statement by a Palestinian rights group. The Palestinian Prisoner Society, as cited by Anadolu news agency, reported on Sunday that these arrests occurred during Israeli raids on various cities and towns across the West Bank, including al-Quds, since February 18, 2026.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the detainees encompass a range of individuals, including children, women, and previously freed prisoners. The report highlights that the arrests were accompanied by severe beatings and organized acts of terrorism against detainees and their families. Additionally, there were widespread incidents of property destruction, including the confiscation of vehicles, money, and gold jewelry.

Currently, more than 9,300 Palestinians are held in Israeli prisons, among them 350 children and 66 women. Many of these individuals are detained without formal charges or trials, under a measure known as administrative detention. This policy allows the regime to imprison Palestinians for indefinite periods without due process.

Palestinian and international rights groups have consistently reported that Palestinian inmates are subjected to harsh conditions, including torture, starvation, and neglect of medical treatment. These conditions have contributed to the deaths of a significant number of prisoners inside Israeli jails.

The Israeli regime has intensified its crackdown and raids in the occupied West Bank following its military actions in the besieged Gaza Strip, which began in 2023.
