New York: Iran's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN Amir Saeid Iravani has declared that Israel poses the principal threat to international peace and security, asserting that Tel Aviv employs "baseless allegations against Iran" as a means to obscure its own 'destructive activities'.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Iravani articulated his concerns in a letter addressed to the UN Security Council president, responding to statements made by Israeli President Isaac Herzog. Herzog had accused Iran of being a 'threat' to global stability, particularly to the United States and Israel. Iravani denounced these 'unfounded and provocative accusations' made by the Israeli president during a special United Nations General Assembly session.
Iravani firmly rejected these claims, stating that they are intended solely to divert the international community's focus from the severe crimes perpetrated by Israel against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. He highlighted that these accusations form part of a sustained effort to hide Israel's violations of international law and its harmful actions against neighboring countries.
The letter was also sent to the UN secretary general and the president of the General Assembly, emphasizing the danger posed by Israel not only to Iran but also to global peace and security. Beyond actions against Palestinians, Iravani accused Israel of continuous aggression against Lebanon and Syria, violating their sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He urged the international community to resist Israel's attempts to deflect attention from its actions, which undermine regional peace and stability. Iravani called on the UN Security Council to hold Israel accountable for its actions and ensure compliance with international law.
