Tehran: First Vice President Mohammad-Reza Aref has hailed journalists as the true heroes in the ongoing battle over narratives, emphasizing their critical role in building a knowledgeable and just Iran. Aref delivered this message on Iran's Journalists' Day, highlighting the country's commitment to freedom and truth.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Aref underscored the importance of journalists in preserving history, stating that while victors may claim triumph in battles, it is the truth-tellers who ensure history is recorded accurately. He depicted Iran as a sanctuary for reform-minded individuals and those disenchanted with global hegemony, specifically criticizing the United States and Israel for attempting to impose unjust narratives through force.

Aref emphasized Iran's historical role as a voice for the oppressed, describing the nation as part of a larger struggle for justice and freedom. He identified the current global struggle as a war of narratives, where adversaries aim to undermine public hope and distort Iran's image.

He called on media professionals to use their platforms to counteract misinformation and uphold national dignity and identity. Aref stressed that effective governance is reliant on a courageous and accountable media, noting that fair criticism from journalists can pave the way for reform and rebuild social trust.

In commemoration of journalist Mahmoud Saremi on August 8, Aref remarked that journalism transcends a mere profession, serving instead as a historic call for knowledge, courage, and freedom.
