Kuwait tie with India 1-1, qualify to semifinal of South Asian Football Championship

Kuwait team managed to clinch a draw against host India 1-1 in the last match of Group A on Tuesday in the South Asian Football Federation Championship being held in the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bangalore city in south India.

Abdullah Ammar netted the only goal for Kuwait team at 92 minutes helping his team to clinch a draw against India whose Sunil Chhetri secured the first goal of the match against Kuwait.

Both India and Kuwait had secured spots in the semifinal.

In earlier matches of Group A, Kuwait defeated Nepal 3-1 and Pakistan 4-0 in style.

India also won both its earlier matches against Nepal (2-0) and Pakistan (4-0) and had qualified for the semifinal.

With today’s victory, Kuwait managed to reach the top spot in the group due to their superior goal tally. In an earlier match of the Group A today, Nepal defeated Pakistan for one unanswered goal.
