Larijani Advocates for Strategic Relations Document with Armenia to Bolster Regional Peace

Tehran: Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani has emphasized the importance of signing a comprehensive document of strategic relations between Iran and Armenia as a vital measure to enhance peace in the region. Larijani conveyed these views during a meeting with his Armenian counterpart Armen Grigoryan in Tehran on Saturday.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Larijani expressed Iran’s opposition to any geopolitical shifts in the region that could negatively impact Tehran-Yerevan relations. He highlighted Iran’s robust economic, political, security, and defense ties with Armenia and underscored the need for ongoing collaboration with its northern neighbor, particularly in the development of the North-South Corridor and linking the Persian Gulf to the Black Sea.

Larijani reaffirmed Iran’s support for peace initiatives between Armenia and Azerbaijan, sharing Iran’s perspective on regional peace and stability. He emphasized that Iran consistently backs the independence and empowerment of regional nations as a foundation for regional security.

Meanwhile, Armen Grigoryan voiced his satisfaction with the discussions held with Iranian officials. He mentioned that the comprehensive document of strategic relations, which was a focal point during his visit, is expected to be signed soon by officials from both countries. Grigoryan praised the current state of bilateral relations as being at their best and stated that his visit aimed to further expand the multifaceted ties between Armenia and Iran.

Grigoryan reiterated Armenia’s eagerness to formalize the strategic relations document with Iran in the near future.
