Tehran: Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri issued a statement on Saturday cautioning the nation against falling into 'Fitna' following a framework agreement signed under US mediation between the Lebanese government and the Israeli regime. Berri urged Lebanese citizens to avoid actions that could lead to division and unrest.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Berri's statement came shortly after the deal's signing and was reported by the Al-Ahed news website. In his address to the Lebanese people, Berri described the agreement as sedition, quoting Imam Ali (AS) from Nahj al-Balagha. He advised the people to emulate 'Ibn al-Laboun,' a metaphor for maintaining neutrality to prevent exploitation for division.

Berri did not elaborate on the specifics but warned about the potential consequences of the agreement. This development follows five rounds of negotiations and four days of talks in Washington. Lebanon and the Israeli regime reached a framework for a future agreement on Friday, facilitated by US mediation.

The framework was signed in the presence of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Lebanese Ambassador to the United States Nada Hamade Moawad, and Israeli regime's ambassador to Washington Yechiel Leiter.

According to a report by the American news outlet Axios, the agreement sets the stage for future negotiations and outlines initial implementation steps. An Israeli official cited by the outlet mentioned that under the agreement, the Israeli regime will maintain its presence in the 'Yellow Line' security zone until Hezbollah is disarmed.
