Beirut: Lebanon's Health Ministry has announced that the death toll from the ongoing Israeli aggression against the country has risen to 4,335. The ministry's report highlights the severe impact of the conflict, which began on March 2, 2026.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the statement, carried by Lebanon's Al Manar news network, also detailed that at least 12,273 individuals have sustained injuries since the conflict's inception. The fighting reignited in March following Hezbollah's retaliatory attacks against Israel, which were in response to consistent Israeli assaults on Lebanon and the assassination of Iran's Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in a US-Israeli airstrike in Tehran.

The conflict escalated on March 26 when Israel launched a ground invasion, leading to the occupation of parts of southern Lebanon. Although a ceasefire was agreed upon on April 16, the truce was repeatedly breached, prolonging the hostilities.

In a bid to resolve the conflict, a framework agreement was signed on June 26 in Washington, brokered by the United States. This agreement stipulated the withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon to be replaced by the Lebanese Armed Forces. However, the absence of a specific timetable for the withdrawal has drawn criticism. Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem described the framework as a surrender to Israel, echoing concerns from critics about the lack of clarity in the agreement's implementation.
