The Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission has signed a cooperation agreement with the Authority of People with Disability (APD) aiming to enable visually impaired individuals to access cultural and literary content through digital platforms. The agreement enables access to digital content and is consistent with the Marrakesh Treaty, which facilitates such access for visually impaired individuals. The commission and APD will periodically review platforms and involve visually impaired individuals and experts, taking into account global experiences in this respect, to make the project a success. Commission CEO Dr. Mohammed Hasan Alwan and APD CEO Dr. Hisham AlHaidary signed the agreement at the APD headquarters. The signing ceremony was attended by several visually impaired individuals. Alwan said that the agreement is part of the "books for all" initiative, which was launched by the commission to facilitate wide access to books, and revitalize and promote reading through projects that incre ase the diversity and scope of books, to cater to all segments of society. He stressed the importance of enabling persons with disabilities to access content, noting that all local and international regulations guarantee such right. The collaboration is an extension of the leadership's continuous support for persons with disabilities, and of the opportunities created by the government to ensure empowerment and inclusion.
