London-Based Foreign Diplomats Support Tehran’s Legitimate Response to Aggressors: Iran’s Envoy

London: Iran’s Ambassador to Britain, Ali Mousavi, says the recent Israeli and U.S. aggression against Iran is causing concern within the diplomatic community in London, with many nations characterizing Tehran’s retaliatory military actions as legitimate and in self-defense.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Mousavi spoke to reporters on the sidelines of the signing ceremony of the Book of Condolences at the Iranian Embassy on Monday. He mentioned that many foreign diplomats appreciated Iran’s punitive and firm response to the Israeli regime and its aggressive actions. The diplomatic community is generally with Iran; however, some diplomats have political considerations, which is a separate issue, he noted.

Referring to his meetings with British and other European officials, the Iranian envoy expressed disappointment over their failure to condemn the attack and aggression based on their international obligations. He criticized the silence of Western officials against illegal and hostile actions of Israel and the U.S., highlighting their double standards, shameful behavior, and lack of respect for human rights and international law.

He further stated that the conflict exposed European countries and their claims to be defenders of human rights and international law, describing it as a matter of regret and shame for them. Emphasizing Iran’s adherence to international laws and obligations, Mousavi reiterated that the Islamic Republic had always called for the peaceful resolution of issues, a stance it would maintain despite violations by the Israeli regime and its main backer, the United States.

Mousavi also mentioned that the Book of Condolences for the London diplomatic community, international organizations, and representatives is a small part of the Embassy’s gratitude to those who sacrificed their lives for the country. He added, ‘We will strive to further pursue the path of explaining the bravery of the Iranian nation by fulfilling our diplomatic duties.’

The backdrop of these remarks is Israel’s unprovoked war of aggression launched on June 13, which included assassinations of Iran’s military commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians in Tehran and other cities. In response, the Iranian Armed Forces conducted 22 rounds of punitive strikes using advanced missiles and drones that penetrated Israel’s multilayered air defense system, targeting strategic positions and leading to a U.S.-proposed ceasefire after 12 days of conflict. Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has warned that the country’s armed forces are ready to give a decisive and regretful response to any act of aggression.
