The Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission successfully concluded the third edition of the Madinah Book Fair, held from July 30 to August 5 at the King Salman International Convention and Exhibition Center. The fair featured over 300 publishing houses and local, Arab, and international agencies with over 200 pavilions. The exhibition attracted approximately 170,000 visitors from inside and outside the Madinah region, a 22% increase compared to the previous edition. This year, the fair coincided with the summer school vacation, resulting in a significant turnout from attendees, particularly students, families, and book enthusiasts. The event offered a diverse and rich cultural program and showcased the latest literary, cognitive, scientific, and Islamic publications. The Commission's organization of the Madinah Book Fair 2024 reflects a renewed vision and a distinctive identity aligned with the latest developments in the publishing industry. This initiative builds upon the successes of the two p revious editions and underscores Madinah's cultural significance within the Saudi cultural scene. The fair is part of the strategic "Book Fairs" initiative, which aims to empower the publishing industry, enhance societal cognitive and cultural awareness, improve quality of life, and contribute to national economic growth in line with the goals of the National Strategy for Culture outlined in the Saudi Vision 2030.
