Tehran: Nouri al-Maliki, head of Iraq's State of Law Coalition, met Iran's ambassador to Baghdad on Saturday to discuss bilateral ties, regional developments, and ways to strengthen cooperation between the two neighboring countries, according to a statement from Maliki's office. During the meeting, Maliki emphasized the importance of maintaining Iraq's coordination with its regional environment and supporting efforts that contribute to the country's security and stability.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the two sides also explored avenues for expanding joint cooperation in line with the interests of the Iranian and Iraqi peoples. They exchanged views on the latest political and security developments in the region. Iran's Ambassador to Iraq Mohammad Kazem Al-e Sadeq reaffirmed Tehran's commitment to developing relations with Iraq and enhancing bilateral cooperation and coordination across areas of mutual interest, the statement said.
