Mauritania's electoral commission announced the sweeping win of incumbent president Mohammad Ould Ghazouani for another five-year term. According to the commission, Ghazounai won with 554,659, taking up 56.12 percent of the vote, whereas opposing candidate came in second with 218,645 votes, 22.10 percent of the vote. In third position came leader of the Islamist Tewassoul Party Hamadi Ould Sid' Al-Moctar with 12.76 percent of the vote. Source: Kuwait News Agency
