The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture (MEWA) has emphasized the nutritional potency of dates, highlighting their rich content of vitamins and minerals. According to the ministry, just three dates provide 310 calories, along with essential carbohydrates, fiber, protein, and negligible fat. This nutritional profile positions dates as a promising agricultural commodity, prompting MEWA to invest in boosting domestic production and expanding global market penetration. As part of its Harvest Season campaign, the ministry highlighted the Kingdom's leading role in date cultivation. With production spanning from June to November across various regions, Saudi Arabia boasts over 300 date varieties and aims to solidify its status as the world's largest date exporter. Annual production exceeds 1.6 million tons from 165,000 hectares, with Riyadh, Qassim, Madinah, and the Eastern Region leading the charge. MEWA credited advancements in technology and stringent quality control for the surge in date producti on and derivative products. The Harvest Season campaign seeks to spotlight the diversity of local produce and encourage the consumption of homegrown agricultural products.
