Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum has called for the recognition of the State of Palestine as a step toward achieving peace in the Middle East. Sheinbaum also condemned the ongoing violence in the region, stating that "war will never lead to a good destination". Norway, Spain and Ireland have officially recognized the State of Palestine in May, followed by Slovenia and Armenia in June, bringing the total number of countries recognizing the State of Palestine to over 140.
