Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture and Chairman of the National Center of Meteorology Eng. Abdulrahman Alfadley inaugurated a series of programs in Dammam today aimed at localizing knowledge and modern technologies. These initiatives, part of the National Cloud Seeding Program, included launching operational projects with the presence of representatives from partner agencies. During the ceremony, the program's key achievements since its first operational phase in 2022 were highlighted. The event also showcased new aircraft and the latest technologies that will soon be utilized in rainmaking operations, aimed at enhancing the technical, technological, and human capacities of the program. These efforts are part of broader initiatives to support the "Saudi Green" and "Middle East Green" initiatives, which seek to achieve a sustainable environmental future. Eng. Alfadley emphasized that the localization of cloud seeding technology is essential for building internal capabilities, ensuring operational sustainability, and improving the efficiency of rainmaking operations. The initiative is also designed to reduce operational costs, increase coverage, and enhance outcomes that align with the Kingdom's Vision 2030. These efforts further support the Saudi Green and Middle East Green initiatives by contributing to sustainable environmental goals. The National Cloud Seeding Program, an outcome of the Middle East Green Initiative Summit announced by HRH the Crown, aims to boost rainfall, create new water sources, and enhance vegetation cover. This program is essential in addressing challenges such as climate change, desertification, and drought.
