Riyadh: Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Transport General Authority (TGA) Saleh Al-Jasser, convened here today with Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Arsenio Dominguez Velasco. The discussion focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the IMO, targeting key areas such as maritime security and sustainable development. This cooperation aligns with broader international initiatives to safeguard maritime routes and ensure navigational safety. According to Saudi Press Agency, the meeting is part of the IMO Secretary General's visit to Riyadh. It underscores Saudi Arabia's strategic commitment to the IMO's projects and initiatives, emphasizing the protection and sustainability of maritime navigation. The Kingdom reaffirms its adherence to all treaties endorsed by the IMO designed to facilitate safe passage for vessels traversing international shipping lanes. During the discussions, th e IMO Secretary General acknowledged Saudi Arabia's proactive measures in advancing the maritime transport sector, highlighting the Kingdom's dedication to aligning its maritime industry with global advancements. He commended Saudi Arabia's consistent contributions to the IMO through active participation in its initiatives and events and its commitment to fostering cooperation and exchanging expertise with other member states. The meeting was attended by the Vice Minister of Transport and the President-designate of the Transport General Authority, Dr Rumaih bin Mohammed Al-Rumaih, along with various officials and representatives from relevant authorities.
