Tehran: Tehran's police chief has announced the arrest of an individual affiliated with the terrorist group Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) during a student gathering at Tehran University following the murder of a student. Brigadier General Abbasali Mohammadian said on Saturday night that during the protest, police officers noticed a suspicious motorcycle and pursued it.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Mohammadian stated that the individual arrested was of the same age as the students but was linked to the MKO. The suspect had modified his motorcycle with certain equipment, and his accomplice was also apprehended. The police chief emphasized the importance of student vigilance to prevent such infiltrations.

Mohammadian also addressed the murder of Amir Mohammad Khaleghi, a student fatally stabbed by two thieves at the university's dormitory complex. Despite challenges due to poor lighting at the crime scene, police launched an immediate investigation and are making efforts to arrest the perpetrators.

Tehran's Prosecutor General Ali Salehi confirmed that suspects connected to the murder have been arrested, although investigations are ongoing. Khaleghi, 19, was attacked by two unknown assailants who stole his backpack. He succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to Shariati Hospital.

The murder has sparked anger among students, who gathered at a Tehran University dormitory demanding enhanced safety measures and justice for Khaleghi.
