MWL Honors Quran Reciters and Memorizers of Holy Quran in Tanzania

The Muslim World League (MWL) has celebrated the achievements of Quran reciters and memorizers through a series of historic initiatives launched in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The event was graced by Tanzanian President Dr. Samia Hassan and MWL Secretary General and Chairman of the Muslim Scholars Association, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa.These initiatives, held in conjunction with the "Tanzania Girls International Quran Competition," attracted more than 60,000 attendees from across Africa. The event also saw the participation of high-ranking officials, including the Mufti of Tanzania and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Abubakar Zubeir.Female Quran memorizers from around the world gathered to compete in the Girls International Quran Competition. Participants who reached the final stages of the competition engaged in the oral recitation segment, a prerequisite set by the MWL's International Council for Holy Qur'an Perfect Recitation Sheikhs for obtaining a Quranic license with a continuous chain of transmission linked to the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).The MWL's initiatives also included honoring notable Quran reciters from the Islamic world who have passed away. This recognition serves to commemorate their contributions, inspire future generations to follow in their footsteps, and reinforce the importance of mastering the Holy Quran. Representatives, including grandchildren and children of the honored reciters, were present to receive the accolades.The MWL is among the pioneering organizations that emphasize the importance of the Quranic license with a continuous chain of transmission, underscoring the significance of maintaining this sacred tradition.Source: Saudi Press Agency
