St. petersburg: Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani has met his counterparts from Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, Shahin Mammadov and Kanat Niyazbekov, on the sidelines of the meeting of naval commanders from Caspian Sea littoral states in St. Petersburg, Russia.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Mammadov referred to Iran and Azerbaijan as two friendly, brotherly, and neighboring countries and mentioned that the two countries have close cooperation in all fields. He also highlighted coordination regarding the Caspian Sea issues.

Admiral Irani also discussed ways to enhance the quality of cooperation with his Kazakh counterpart. Meanwhile, Niyazbekov appreciated the constructive talks with his Iranian counterpart and the agreements on future cooperation.

During their joint meeting on Tuesday, the Navy commanders of Iran, Russia, Kazakhstan, and the Republic of Azerbaijan showed a firm reaction to the statements and activities of extra-regional powers concerning Caspian Sea issues.

While expressing his satisfaction with the recent joint exercises in Bandar Anzali and the southern shores of the sea dubbed ‘CASAREX 2025’ under the banner ‘Together for a Safe and Secure Caspian Sea,’ Irani announced new drills involving the littoral states. He noted that the Caspian Sea belongs only to the five countries, including Iran, Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan, and its issues will be resolved by the same countries.

He further mentioned that the Caspian littoral states are at a level that can ensure sustainable security and contribute to economic dynamism and solve environmental issues.
