No Excuse to Be Indifferent to Effects of Zionist Crimes: Iran MP.

Baku: The Chairperson of the Environmental Committee of the Iranian Parliament has declared that there is no justification for indifference toward the Zionist regime's crimes, which have destructive effects on the climate in the region and beyond. Somayeh Rafiei made these remarks during her speech at the specialized panel of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) on the topic of climate vulnerability. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Rafiei emphasized the destructive impact of Israeli authorities' actions on both the land and the oppressed people of Palestine and Lebanon. She highlighted that the region is under climatic tension, exacerbated by these actions. Rafiei urged the international community to recognize the severity of the situation and not remain indifferent, especially concerning the effects of the ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon. Rafiei also addressed Iran's internal situation, describing the Islamic Republic as a diverse nati on where local communities coexist peacefully and have equal access to essential services such as health, education, and infrastructure. She pointed out that Iran has invested significantly in ensuring a fair distribution of facilities across the country. Furthermore, Rafiei raised the issue of climate justice, stressing that it should not be a mere catchphrase in meetings. Instead, she argued it needs to be a significant consideration in global policies to ensure fair and effective climate action worldwide.
