Tehran: Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi says no plan has currently been set for negotiations with the United States. Araqchi attended a commemoration ceremony at the Imam Khomeini Hussainiya in Tehran to mark the 40th day since the martyrdom of those who lost their lives in the war.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, during the ceremony, Araqchi spoke with IRIB and outlined the Foreign Ministry’s position on any potential upcoming negotiations. He stated, ‘No specific arrangements have been made for negotiations yet. However, in any arena, including negotiations, should we decide to participate, our goal will be to defend the blood of the martyrs and the cause for which they were martyred.’
Earlier, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei delivered a speech addressing attendees at the ceremony held in the capital, Tehran. Ayatollah Khamenei noted that Israel’s 12-day war against Iran highlighted the Islamic Republic’s strength and resilience, emphasizing that such challenges are not new, as Iran has overcome decades of foreign plots, coups, and seditions.
The ceremony was attended by crowds of people, along with families of the martyrs, as well as senior state and military officials. Israel commenced its war against Iran on June 13, targeting military commanders and scientists, and affecting civilians in residential areas. The conflict led to over 1,000 casualties.
The United States entered the conflict on June 22, targeting three Iranian nuclear sites, before a ceasefire was demanded by Israel. The truce took effect on June 24. In response, the Iranian Armed Forces targeted sites in the Israeli-occupied territories and an American airbase in Qatar.
