Official: 6,500 Tons of Aquatic Products Exported from Bushehr Province

Bushehr: Mohammad Behnam Rad, secretary of the Aquatics Association of the Bushehr Chamber of Commerce, has announced the successful export of 6,500 tons of aquatic products, including 4,500 tons of farmed shrimp and 2,000 tons of fish, from the province during the first three months of the current Iranian calendar year, which began on March 21, 2026. This export activity has generated revenue between $100 million and $150 million.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, last year saw significant production in Bushehr Province with 2.4 billion shrimp larvae produced across 4,980 hectares of farming ponds. As a result, more than 30,000 tons of shrimp were harvested from these farms. Of the harvested shrimp, 20,000 tons were exported, while the remaining supply was directed to the domestic market.

During the same period, approximately 4,500 tons of other aquatic products were exported from Bushehr Province. China has emerged as the most significant export market for Bushehr's fish, whereas the majority of the province's shrimp finds its market in Russia, despite challenges faced by exporters along this route.

Efforts to modernize farm infrastructure, address shrimp diseases such as HPND, and organize specialized exhibitions have been identified as effective measures in advancing the sector. Currently, about 3,750 hectares of farms in Bushehr Province have been stocked with shrimp larvae, indicating continued growth and potential in the aquaculture industry.
