Pakistan Actively Engages with US and Iran to Facilitate Peaceful Resolution

Islamabad: Pakistan announced its ongoing engagement with the United States and Iran in an effort to resolve their prolonged conflict. During a weekly media briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi expressed optimism about the two countries returning to the negotiation table.

According to Deutsche Welle, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif recently met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian at the 26th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. The event took place in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, from August 31 to September 1. This high-level meeting underscores Pakistan's commitment to fostering dialogue between the US and Iran.

In addition to diplomatic meetings, Pakistan's Chief of Defense Forces, Asim Munir, visited Tehran last week as part of the initiative to mediate the US-Iran conflict. Andrabi highlighted that the visit contributed to building momentum on several issues, including efforts to reopen the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
