Parliament Speaker Condemns Silence on Israeli Regime’s Gaza Crimes

Jakarta: Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf has stated that silence and indifference toward the atrocities committed by the Israeli regime are unforgivable sins, emphasizing the duty of all Muslims to support Gaza.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Qalibaf, who is in Indonesia for the 19th Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC), addressed students at Jakarta's Syarif Hidayatullah University. He highlighted that confronting arrogance is both a religious and humanitarian obligation within Islamic thought. This duty transcends time and place, with Muslims consistently called to oppose oppression and tyranny.

Qalibaf remarked on the current global Islamic community's experience of profound injustice, particularly the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza. He expressed that these tragedies affect every freedom-seeking individual and challenge humanity's conscience. He called for a unified condemnation from Muslims worldwide against the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, advocating for the Palestinian people's rights to justice and self-determination. Remaining silent, he warned, equates to complicity with oppressors and disregard for human and Islamic values.

He criticized the U.S. administration's support for the aggressors, claiming it encourages continued crimes and perpetuates suffering. Such support, Qalibaf argued, violates international laws and contradicts humanitarian principles.

Drawing parallels to Indonesia's fight against colonialism, Qalibaf urged the Islamic world to unite with Palestine. He warned that silence in the face of oppression is a betrayal of the Quran, history, and humanity. Concluding his speech, Qalibaf presented a translated version of Martyr Morteza Motahhari's book, 'Islam and Iran: A Historical Study of Mutual Services.'
