Pezeshkian Arrives in New Delhi to Attend 18th BRICS Summit

Tehran: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in the Indian capital of New Delhi to attend the 18th BRICS Summit. He was received by India's Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shantanu Thakur, upon his arrival.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Iranian president will hold meetings with the Prime Minister of India, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, the President of South Africa, and other leaders and officials attending the summit. President Pezeshkian highlighted the capacity of the BRICS bloc to counter unilateralism and expand economic, trade, industrial, and scientific cooperation.

During his visit, President Pezeshkian will attend and address the main BRICS leaders' meeting, the BRICS economic forum, and a closed session of BRICS leaders focusing on inclusive global governance and strengthening multilateralism. He aims to foster cooperation among member states.

Before departing Tehran, Pezeshkian emphasized the summit's importance as a platform to enhance collaboration among BRICS countries. He noted that BRICS currently consists of 21 members, including 11 full members and 10 new members under the "BRICS Plus" initiative.
