Tehran: President Masoud Pezeshkian has extended his congratulations to South Africa on the anniversary of Freedom Day. In his message to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Pezeshkian expressed his appreciation for the solidarity shown by the South African government and its people towards the Iranian nation.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Pezeshkian conveyed his hopes that the joint efforts between Iran and South Africa would foster progress toward a world devoid of discrimination, war, colonialism, and supremacy. Freedom Day, celebrated on 27 April, is a public holiday in South Africa that marks the first post-apartheid elections held in 1994 and the introduction of the new constitution.
