Moscow: After Iran and Russia signed a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the cooperation between the two countries is a win-win for both. Pezeshkian emphasized that this partnership can thwart efforts by adversaries aiming to destabilize the region's peace and security. He expressed these views during a meeting with Russian businesspeople, marking the conclusion of his official visit to Moscow.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the signing of the partnership agreement provides a roadmap for Iran and Russia to pursue their activities effectively within this framework. Pezeshkian highlighted the resolve of both countries to enhance bilateral relations, particularly in transportation infrastructure and corridor development. He stressed the importance of understanding each other's capabilities to operationalize the partnership, advocating for a well-structured economic, financial, and trade framework.
In his address, Pezeshkian also discussed the potential for collaboration with neighboring countries through organizations like BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Eurasian Economic Union. With both nations facing sanctions, he argued that it is crucial for them to engage in serious cooperation to counteract the US's unilateral actions. Pezeshkian further suggested that Iran, Russia, and China could even impose sanctions on the United States by amplifying their economic cooperation.
Earlier, President Pezeshkian and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the strategic partnership agreement aimed at long-term cooperation. During a joint press conference following the signing, Pezeshkian mentioned that the agreement would usher in a new era of bilateral relations, particularly enhancing economic collaboration.
