Tehran: Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian says his country does not seek war and nuclear weapons, as the Islamic Republic's doctrine rejects the massacre of innocent people under any circumstances.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Pezeshkian stated, 'War is not in our benefit; we are not seeking nuclear weapons. This is the fatwa of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution,' referring to a religious decree by Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, which bans the use of nukes and weapons of mass destruction. The president emphasized that even those 'who make claims' inside Iran cannot push the country into going nuclear, because the 'doctrine of the Islamic Republic rejects the massacre of innocent people under any circumstances.'
President Pezeshkian made these remarks in Tehran while addressing over 100 envoys from foreign countries and international organizations on the 46th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution. He remarked that the Israeli regime, known for acts of aggression against regional countries, raises issues concerning Iran's nuclear activities.
Pezeshkian mentioned that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has been able to inspect Iran's nuclear sites whenever it has wished, and reiterated that his country has no objections to further inspections, given its stance against acquiring nuclear weapons.
The Iranian president took the opportunity to criticize Western media for their propaganda against the Islamic Republic, while remaining silent on the Israeli regime's actions against the people of Gaza during its extended conflict in the Palestinian territory. He highlighted the inconsistencies in coverage, pointing out the significant loss of life and destruction in Gaza.
Pezeshkian concluded by stressing that global peace could only be achieved by respecting people's rights irrespective of race, ethnicity, religion, and beliefs. He asserted that tranquility is attained through principles of justice, fairness, equality, brotherhood, and friendship, rather than through war and bloodshed, and reiterated Iran's desire for amicable relations with other nations.
