Tehran: President Masoud Pezeshkian has pledged full support for investors and domestic manufacturers of solar panels, saying there will be no restrictions on backing investment in the sector. Pezeshkian made the remarks on Tuesday during a ceremony to inaugurate two solar power plants with a combined capacity of 95 megawatts in Tehran Province.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the president thanked domestic and foreign engineers and contractors involved in solar panel projects. He stated that the measures taken to expand the use of clean and renewable energy could be further developed and lead to new records. The administration aims to generate 30,000 megawatts of electricity from clean and renewable sources within the next two years.

He emphasized that electricity supplies to industrial units should never be cut off, highlighting the importance of reliable power for production. Pezeshkian also called for improved efficient use of available space and resources alongside the development of renewable energy. He urged coordination with university scholars and agricultural experts to explore growing medicinal plants alongside solar power plants and utilizing the water used to wash solar panels.

Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi, who attended the ceremony, said President Pezeshkian had simultaneously ordered the launch of 600 megawatts of solar-generated electricity across the country. He credited the progress made in the sector to the president's guidance and recommendations.

Central Bank Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati noted that $1.7 billion has been allocated to advance solar energy technology, emphasizing that there were no restrictions on providing foreign or national currencies to support domestic solar panel manufacturers.

Tehran Governor Mohammad-Sadeq Motamedian highlighted the president's emphasis on expanding solar power and other new energy sources, which had encouraged greater public participation and investment. He reported that before Pezeshkian's administration took office two years ago, Tehran had 23 megawatts of solar power capacity, a figure that has now reached 400 megawatts, marking a 20-fold increase.
