Tehran: President Masoud Pezeshkian has called for strengthening people-led management in environmental protection, emphasizing that communities act more responsibly when directly entrusted with safeguarding their environment.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Pezeshkian made these remarks during the 40th meeting of Iran's Supreme Council for the Environment. He highlighted that concentrating responsibility in the hands of a limited number of managers and officials can often lead institutions to prioritize their own interests over broader national goals.

Pezeshkian stated, "When responsibility for protecting the environment is given to the people themselves, they will undoubtedly act far more responsibly." He also underscored the importance of enabling large and small industrial and production units to take greater responsibility for environmental protection. He suggested that environmental safeguards related to their activities should be delegated to the companies themselves under precise and up-to-date regulations.

The president stressed the need for continuous government supervision to ensure that these responsibilities are met effectively.
