Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli reviewed a report by Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad on the recommendations included in a report prepared by the World Bank analyzing the regional environment in Egypt. He also reviewed recommendations of a report prepared by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development - assessing green growth policies in Egypt. The minister said efforts are underway to promote environmental governance to reduce costs and improve efficiency in addition to getting non-governmental organizations and business community to be more engaged in this domain. She added that efforts are underway to lay down the principles to move towards a circular economy, starting with priority industries, while setting clear national standards for green products, in addition to supporting entrepreneurs who focus on youth and women to develop green business models in order to enter the circular economy market. She noted that the recommendations included adopting a comprehensive mechanism for plan ning and managing environmental system in addition to promoting coastal and maritime governance system within legal and institutional framework. She noted that the recommendations also called for managing natural protectorates areas and their surroundings through a sustainable management system in addition to getting local communities engaged to up revenues. She added that a powerful monitoring system - affiliated to the ministry will be laid down. The recommendations also included building more confidence with national and international investors in the field of environment and green finance growth, and expanding inclusion of industrial facilities into circular economy.
