Egypt: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Italy's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Antonio Tajani, to discuss the strengthening of bilateral relations and regional security cooperation.

According to African Press Organization, the meeting included key officials from both nations, including Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, and Italian Ambassador to Egypt, Agostino Palese. The discussions were geared towards enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, energy, education, maritime transport, agriculture, and tourism. The Italian delegation also included high-ranking officials such as Ambassador Riccardo Guariglia, Ambassador Francesco Genuardi, and Minister Plenipotentiary Cecilia Piccioni.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, Spokesman for the Presidency, relayed that Mr. Tajani conveyed greetings from Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to President El-Sisi. In turn, President El-Sisi acknowledged the strong ties between Egypt and Italy and expressed appreciation for the ongoing progress in bilateral relations. A congratulatory letter from President El-Sisi to the Italian Prime Minister highlighted the Italian government's enduring tenure and invited continued dialogue and cooperation on mutual interests.

The meeting addressed regional and international issues, with President El-Sisi emphasizing the importance of the Egyptian-Italian Joint Committee's outcomes. Mr. Tajani reiterated Italy's interest in expanding cooperation with Egypt, particularly in addressing illegal migration. Discussions also included regional tensions linked to the Iranian conflict, with Italy expressing appreciation for Egypt's efforts in promoting regional stability.

President El-Sisi stressed the critical importance of the Nile River for Egypt, underscoring the country's right to protect its water and food security. He emphasized the rejection of unilateral actions affecting the Nile, advocating for adherence to international law.

The meeting also touched on developments in the Horn of Africa, with both sides agreeing on the need for joint coordination to support regional security. The strategic importance of the Red Sea was highlighted, with President El-Sisi affirming that its security is the responsibility of the littoral states, opposing any external attempts to destabilize the region.
