Tehran: President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, is not opposed to American entities investing in the Iranian economy. This statement comes as a significant precursor to the upcoming negotiations between Iran and the United States set to take place in Oman.According to Islamic Republic News Agency, President Pezeshkian emphasized his understanding of Ayatollah Khamenei's viewpoint due to his regular meetings with the Leader. He noted that while Iran welcomes genuine investment, it remains vigilant against any attempts at infiltration by foreign agents aiming to conduct espionage or sabotage. Pezeshkian made it clear that Iran is not a place for conspiracies aimed at gathering intelligence and committing acts of assassination. The president also reassured that genuine investors would have the freedom to engage with the Iranian market. He confirmed that Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, who will lead the Iranian delegation in the talks, wou ld adhere to the directives of Ayatollah Khamenei. Pezeshkian stated that the negotiations would be conducted indirectly, as Iran does not trust the Americans, highlighting the Leader's clear position on the matter.Contrary to U.S. claims of direct negotiations, Iranian officials have insisted on communicating through Omani intermediaries. Despite President Donald Trump's abandonment of the multinational deal with Iran in 2018, he has shown a renewed interest in negotiating a new deal with the Islamic Republic. His outreach included sending a letter to Ayatollah Khamenei in March, to which the Leader responded. The announcement of the talks was made by Trump at the White House on April 7, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu present. Iran subsequently confirmed its participation in the discussions.
