President Pezeshkian Attributes Regional Problems to US Policies

Tehran:President Masoud Pezeshkian asserted during a meeting with Pakistani Army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir that regional tensions are a direct result of US warmongering policies. He emphasized that the United States must lift threats and sanctions before any dialogues can progress.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, during the discussion, President Pezeshkian highlighted the US's history of bad faith and treaty violations, citing incidents such as attacks on Iran during negotiations, and the killing of the Supreme Leader, scientists, and students without legal justification. He argued that these actions contribute to regional problems, including conflicts and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Iranian president also commended Pakistan's efforts to resolve tensions through diplomatic channels. He criticized the US allegations against Iran as baseless, asserting Iran's compliance with international laws and demonstrating good faith in negotiations and inspections related to its nuclear dossier.

Field Marshal Asim Munir arrived in Tehran earlier on Tuesday, leading a high-ranking delegation for an official visit. The Pakistani Army Chief's agenda includes discussions with Iranian officials on bilateral relations, regional developments, diplomatic processes, and de-escalation of regional tensions. His first engagement was a meeting with the Iranian Foreign Minister.
