Qalibaf Highlights Iranian Nation’s Stance Against Tyranny on Constitutional Revolution Anniversary

Tehran: Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has described the Constitutional Revolution as a movement that emerged from the people’s will to establish a religious democracy, stating that the Iranian nation has consistently demonstrated its resistance to tyranny.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Qalibaf, speaking at an open session of Parliament, remarked that the Constitutional Revolution marked one of the most significant chapters in modern Iranian history. He emphasized that the movement was initiated by cries for justice and the rule of law by the Iranian people.

Qalibaf highlighted that the Parliament is a direct offspring of the Constitutional Revolution and represents the valuable legacy of that national movement. Despite facing challenges such as foreign interference and the confiscation of its goals, the revolution was fundamentally a grassroots movement, rooted in religious and social awareness.

He further explained that the Constitutional Revolution was not merely a political shift but one of the nation’s first experiences in establishing a religious democracy and resisting foreign-backed tyranny. The movement fostered awareness, public participation, justice-seeking, and adherence to the law despite challenges.

Qalibaf noted that the movement’s trajectory continued with the nationalization of oil, reaching its peak in the Islamic Revolution, reinforcing the nation’s stance against tyranny. He concluded his remarks by honoring the martyrs of the Constitutional Revolution, particularly Sheikh Fazlollah Nouri, and reaffirmed Parliament’s commitment to upholding that historic legacy.

The Constitutional Revolution of Iran, occurring between 1905 and 1911 during the Qajar dynasty, led to the establishment of a parliament in Iran.
