Geneva: The State of Qatar reiterated its strong condemnation of the unjustified Iranian attacks on a number of countries in the region and its attempt to drag them into existing conflicts, which represents a dangerous escalation that undermines efforts to contain tension and diplomatic endeavors to achieve stability. It stressed the need for an immediate cessation of military actions and attacks, ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, a return to diplomacy and dialogue, and adherence to the understandings that have been reached.
According to Union of OIC News Agencies, this came in a statement by the State of Qatar, delivered by Dr. Hind Abdulrahman Al-Muftah, Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva, during her participation in the general debate with the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Item 2, within the framework of the sixty-third session of the Human Rights Council held in Geneva.
The statement condemned the continuation of Israeli settlement activity, particularly the E1 plan, the attacks on Gaza and the rejection of the peace plan aimed at ending the conflict there, the plans for the forced displacement of the Palestinian people from their land, settler violence and the targeting of UNRWA, and the continued attacks on Lebanon, calling for holding those responsible accountable and ensuring a lasting and just peace.
The Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva welcomed the new phase in Syria that allows for building a future that guarantees the rights of Syrians, and the integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces into the state's military institutions, appreciating the efforts made to achieve transitional justice and address the issue of missing persons.
She called on the international community to continue political, economic, and humanitarian support, lift all sanctions, and take a firm stance against Israeli attacks on Syrian territory.
Furthermore, the Permanent Representative strongly condemned the violations committed by the Rapid Support Forces in and around the city of Al-Ubayyid, and the attacks they launched on civilian and vital facilities in the city, calling for the perpetrators to be held accountable and for compliance with international humanitarian law, and stressing the rejection of any external interference in Sudan's internal affairs that prolongs the conflict.
