Moscow: Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has condemned recent statements by U.S. President Donald Trump, adding that the threats by Trump against Iran, including potential missile strikes and bombings of its nuclear facilities, have raised serious concerns.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, during a press briefing on Wednesday, Zakharova stated that a serious alarm is raised by regularly voiced threats directed toward Iran to carry out new rocket-bomb attacks on its nuclear facilities. These declarations, she highlighted, cynically cloak themselves behind ostensible concerns about the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.

Zakharova emphasized that Russia strongly condemns calls for using military strikes to resolve misunderstandings and contradictions regarding Iran’s peaceful nuclear program. She reiterated Russia’s position, warning against the harmful consequences of military adventurism, which jeopardizes stability and security in the Middle East.

Zakharova also remarked that military strikes on nuclear sites guaranteed by the IAEA must not become commonplace and a routine international practice. She underscored the devastating risks associated with attacks on such facilities, stressing that these cannot be ignored.

President Trump had previously stated that if Tehran relaunched its nuclear program, Washington would quickly obliterate it.
