Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) Chief Executive Engineer Abdulrahman bin Saleh Al-Fageeh led a delegation of Saudi business leaders to the Business 20 (B20) meetings held October 24 and 25 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The theme of this year's meetings was "Inclusive Growth for a Sustainable Future." During the B20 opening ceremony, Eng. Al-Fageeh addressed the challenges facing the chemicals industry, noting that regulators are increasingly focused on reducing their carbon footprint. Despite the challenges, he expressed optimism about the industry's future and confidence that it can balance carbon emissions while continuing to add value to consumer products, which can be accomplished through its vital role in the circular carbon economy. The delegation discussed key recommendations prepared by the B20 for submission to Group of Twenty (G20) leadership, along with various global issues such as trade and investment, employment and education, energy transition and climate concerns, digital transformation, finance and infrastructure, integrity and compliance, sustainable food systems, agriculture, women's empowerment, and diversity and inclusion. Representing the commercial interests of the Saudi business community, the delegation met with their counterparts from the G20's largest economies. They addressed recent global developments of primary interest to the Saudi business community and its customers worldwide. This year, the Saudi delegation participating in the B20 meetings comprises four co-chairs, four vice-chairs, and 19 members across all eight working groups. The composition demonstrates the Saudi business community's commitment to supporting the B20's objectives. SABIC has led the Saudi delegation in B20 meetings for five consecutive years. The company was honored to lead the Saudi delegation, starting with the Saudi summit in 2020, followed by ones in Italy in 2021, Indonesia in 2022, India in 2023, and the current summit in Brazil. The B20 serves as the official dialogue platform for the G20 and the global business community.
