Salehi Amiri Highlights China as Iran’s Strategic Partner in Tourism

Riyadh: Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Reza Salehi Amiri has emphasized that one of Iran’s main tourism policy priorities is to develop cultural interactions and attract a share of China’s substantial tourism market.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Salehi Amiri made these remarks during a meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Sun Yeli, at the 26th session of the General Assembly of the UN Tourism in Riyadh. He highlighted China’s significant role in the global tourism sector, noting that China currently sends more than 160 million tourists abroad annually, with plans to increase this figure to 200 million.

During their discussions, Salehi Amiri underscored the importance of tourist exchange, collaboration in organizing cultural and exhibition events, and enhancing communication between the tourism sectors of both nations.

The Chinese Minister of Culture and Tourism expressed gratitude for Iran’s support in the recent World Tourism Forum vote for China’s seat. He emphasized the significance of maintaining friendly and strategic relations between Tehran and Beijing. He stated that expanding cultural and tourism cooperation could bolster relations between the two countries and elevate economic interactions.
