Tehran: Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has described the United States’ imposition of sanctions on four more International Criminal Court (ICC) judges as a blatant complicity in war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide in Palestine. In a post on his X account on Thursday, Baqaei stated, “The United States’ imposition of sanctions on four more ICC judges (of Canadian, Senegalese, Fijian, French nationalities) for addressing Israel’s atrocity crimes is not only an unprecedented assault on justice but a blatant complicity in war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide in Palestine.”
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baqaei further commented on the situation, emphasizing how this action epitomizes a gross abuse of power. He argued that it grants Israel absolute impunity, licenses further atrocities, and gravely imperils international peace and security.
Baqar continued by criticizing what he perceives as a violation of international norms, stating, “Such brazen illegality lays bare the true essence of ‘rules-based order’: a lawless framework purposed to serve their whims in full contempt for any recognized rule of int’l law or human ethics.” Baqaei’s remarks highlight his concern over the implications of these sanctions, suggesting they undermine the principles of international justice and accountability.
