The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Saudi Space Agency (SSA), and the Federative Republic of Brazil, represented by the Brazilian Space Agency, signed an agreement today to strengthen their bilateral partnership in the exploration and peaceful use of outer space. The agreement is part of the official visit by SSA Chief Executive Dr. Mohammed bin Saud Altamimi to participate in the fifth Space Economy Leaders Meeting (SELM) being held September 11 to 13 in Foz do Iguacu, Brazil. The event is attended by leaders of space agencies from the Group of Twenty (G20) countries and executives from major Brazilian space companies. In his statement, Dr. Altamimi emphasized that the support and empowerment of the space sector by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Supreme Space Council, reflect the Kingdom's ambition to become a global leader in the space economy, which is expected to reach $2 trillion by 2035. The agreeme nt encompasses a wide range of space-related cooperation, including fundamental space science research, remote sensing, space communications technologies, space biology, weather monitoring, satellite research and development, and ground infrastructure for space systems, The SSA's ongoing efforts to deepen its partnerships with regional and global stakeholders reflect its unwavering commitment to fostering cooperation and advancing progress in the space sector.
