Representing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah) is actively engaged in preserving audiovisual heritage, including films, radio broadcasts, television programs, and photographs-all of which reflect a nation's history, culture, and traditions. These media play a vital role in preserving heritage through initiatives that support documentation and conservation. Darah is committed to collecting, preserving, and digitizing important archives, documents, and audiovisual materials for the Kingdom, including films and sound recordings. The foundation provides an optimal environment to prevent damage and maintain the quality of these media over time. To further its mission, Darah has established partnerships wi th relevant international organizations to enhance audiovisual heritage preservation and exchange expertise. Audiovisual materials serve as resources for research, studies, and educational content, helping to raise awareness and expand knowledge about cultural heritage. The General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) adopted the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage in 2005.
